The Shorthorns are coming off a 61-31 loss to No. 3-ranked Ganado last week. After a slow start, Schulenburg held their own against the state title contenders over the final three quarters. Shorthorn quarterback Aaron Janecek threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores. The Schulenburg defense gave up 458 passing yards in that game. Bloomington has lost two a row, and fell to Weimar 58-12 last week.

Fayetteville sophomore cross country runner Saige Gasaway followed up her district title with a strong run at regionals this week to advance to the state meet. She ran her two-mile course in 14:48.40 to be the 9th place individual qualifier for state out of 100 runners in Corpus.

The La Grange volleyball team pulled off a thrilling victory over Giddings Tuesday as the Lady Leps staged comebacks in all three sets they won. No comeback was more dramatic than when La Grange trailed Giddings 2412 and rallied to win 27-25 after Kyla Colon served 12 straight points.
