Animal Shelter Offers Spay & Neuter Program And Microchip May Discount

As of May 5, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 532: 287 dogs and 245 cats in need. As of May 5, the shelter has 122 animals in care: 53 dogs and 69 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Sunflower Bank Hosts ‘Teach Kids to Save Day’

Sunflower Bank is partnering with the Asset Living Property Management at La Grange Springs Apartments to celebrate Teach Children to Save Day with savings education on April 27, 2023. Resident children from kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to come by the community center after school and explore the difference between needs and wants and the importance of saving.

LG Senior Citizens Honor Mannie Fritsch-Schmid

The La Grange Senior Citizens Activity Center, Inc. held their spring meeting/ luncheon on Thursday, April 20 at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. President John Rice welcomed the group and Board Member Audrey Huenefeld gave an inspirational prayer. The group then pledged allegiance to the American and Texas flags led by Glenn Altwein. Secretary Helen Oestreich read the minutes of previous meetings and Treasurer Marilyn Strmiska gave the treasurer’s report. Cash door prizes were handed out to 10 lucky winners.

Schulenburg Band Students Sign With Blinn

Friday at Schulenburg High School, a fine arts signing day was held for two of their outstanding band seniors as they continue band on the college level. Priscila Lara and Elvia Lara will be attending Blinn College this Fall on scholarship and will be marching in the Blinn Buccaneer Marching Band. Priscila plans to major in Biology and Elvia plans to major in Kinesiology. Chuck Mazac Named to Rotary’s Roll of Fame

La Grange Rotarian Chuck Mazac was named to the 2023 “Roll of Fame” by Rotary International District 5870 at its recent district conference in Corpus Christi. A former president of the La Grange club, Mazac was one of 11 honorees, introduced by Roll of Fame chair Bernie Satterwhite of Flatonia.
