The Unicycle Edition When most of us look at a unicycle we see a seat, two pedals and a wheel – and we wonder where’s the rest of the bike. But when Pepper High spotted a unicycle in the back of Second Chance Emporium last week, she saw a dream coming true.

I haven’t watered my garden in weeks thanks to the abundant rainfall in Fayette County recently. I got three inches of rain at my place near Cozy Corner on Monday, and more is falling as I write this column.

Annie McHugs’ Workshop on her Picture Windows Reverse Applique was a huge success at the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild. The 14 Guild Members in attendance used the new tool to make her Orange Peel Patterns and learned several of her “tricks of the trade.” The various colors and patterns that each member brought to assemble for the workshop was outstanding. The Best Little Quilt Show 2024 may have a run of Orange Peel Quilts to display.

Since 1999, Fayette Electric Cooperative has awarded scholarships to deserving high school graduates. FEC aims to reach students at critical points in their education as they are making decisions about college, a degree and a future career. These scholarships are awarded to students whose parents or guardians reside full-time in FEC’s service area and are members of the cooperative.

Aleyn (Albers) Voss was born on May 14, 1923 near Round Top, Texas, the daughter of Elo and Agnes (Voelkel) Albers. As a child she lived in Oldenberg where her parents had a hatchery for chickens.
