Local Grandson Achieves Scouting’s Highest Honor

Nicholas Garner, son of Bobby and Donna (Peck) Garner of Katy, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in scouting. He is the grandson of Don and Kay Peck of Huntsville, formerly of La Grange, and Terry and Glenda Garner of Troy, North Carolina.

St. James Preschool Honors Pre-K Grads

St. James Episcopal Preschool recently celebrated a Pre-K Graduation and “moving up” ceremony. Seven graduates are ready for the next chapter in their education, and their teacher, Ashley Abbey, is very proud of their accomplishments. St. James Preschool is now enrolling children 18-months to fouryears-old for the 2026-2027 school year.

Vietnam Veterans Donate to VA Clinic

A recent generous monetary donation by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 was received by the Veterans Outreach Program sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary 5254 of La Grange and benefits the VA Clinic in La Grange. The clinic was contacted and gave insight into what was needed by the Veterans; then items were purchased and delivered to the VA clinic. Team from Jay Dee’z Wins 2026 Texas Burger Bash

On April 18, cookoff teams from all over Texas came to compete in the 4th Annual Texas Burger Bash. As a first-time competitor, Jay Dee’z Sports Grill took home the Grand Champion prize, along with $250 cash, a Blackstone grill, and a Championship ring.

Seven Local Kids Selected For 2026 Camp Shakespeare

Seven students from Fayette County have been selected to participate in Camp Shakespeare this summer. Those students are: Remi Denham, Carolina Lira, Delilah Citzler, Sofia Meneses, Holden Mikulin, Fallon Miller and MaeBess Huette.

Arrowhead Presentation Hits the Mark

Jeremy Janda and his sons Will and Reed, all of La Grange, gave a fascinating presentation to the La Grange Noon Lions last week. The trio showed off dozens of arrowheads and other Native American artifacts that they have found on their land.
