Seven Local Kids Selected For 2026 Camp Shakespeare
Seven students from Fayette County have been selected to participate in Camp Shakespeare this summer.
Those students are: Remi Denham, Carolina Lira, Delilah Citzler, Sofia Meneses, Holden Mikulin, Fallon Miller and MaeBess Huette.
These students will be joined by Directors Robin Grace Soto and Founder and Director of Mission Doc Ayres and a dedicated group of teachers and interns, including returning head counselor this summer, Tory Borgstedte.
Camp Shakespeare is celebrating its 26th summer season, founded by Professor James “Doc” Ayres in 2000 after he founded and taught the Shakespeare at Winedale College course through UT Austin for many years— it was founded in 1970 and will be celebrating its 56th summer season.
Since its inception in 2000, Camp Shakespeare has been both a lively and creative force in transforming young lives and a cherished experience for audiences from Fayette County and beyond.
“We have been blessed to have eighteen students from the La Grange schools participate as Campers and Counselors over the years. And so, in many ways, the rural countryside has been a special place for Shakespeare,” said Director Robin Grace Soto.
“We would like to invite the local community to come and see the two plays.”
The Camp Shakespeare students will be performing “Love’s Labor’s Lost” in June and “Hamlet” in July.
What is Camp Shakespeare?: Camp Shakespeare is a two-week University of Texas residential summer camp for young people, ages 11-16, dedicated to exploring Shakespeare through performance. All the elements of our program are intended to promote an understanding and appreciation of the works of Shakespeare, and of their extraordinarily complex and penetrating vision of human life. Campers develop, test, and transcend their sense of self through their exploration of Shakespearean characters.
