St. Paul Lutheran Church-Serbin to Hold Annual Church Picnic May 24

St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will have their Annual Church Picnic on Sunday May 24. English worship service is at 8:30 a.m. Barbecue sold by the pound only (boneless beef, pork and chicken) from 9 a.m. till sold out. The Ladies Aid stand will sell sides of potato salad, beans, noodles and pastries of all kinds. They will also have a bake sale, of home baked and canned goods. There will be a silent auction as well.

Former La Grange Leopard Matthew Miori Honored with Houston Area Coaching Award

M Harold Boehnke is pleased to share that his grandson, Matthew Miori, a member of Tomball ISD’s Creekside Park Junior High football coaching staff, was part of the team honored by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association as the “2025–26 Junior High Staff of the Year.” The recognition was presented May 3 at the Klein Multi-Purpose Center and is awarded annually to a junior high football staff in the Greater Houston area demonstrating exceptional commitment to its program and student athletes. The staff was recognized for the “countless hours, dedication, and heart poured into developing young athletes into leaders—both on and off the field.” Miori is the son of Kim and Tony Miori and was a graduate of La Grange High School, where he also played football.

ArtWalk Showcases Regional Talent on the Square

ArtWalk, ARTS annual art festival held last weekend, served as a vibrant showcase for regional talent, filling the square with a curated collection of nature-inspired copper sculptures, flower-adorned hats, and a menagerie of handthrown pottery vases and teapots re-imagined as woodland animals.

Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter Awards Scholarships to Area Seniors

T he Smith-McMillan Chapter, NSDAR congratulates the winners of the Chapter’s annual DAR Scholarships. The winner of the DAR Shirley K. Pyburn $1,500 Scholarship is Ella Nygren, a senior at La Grange High School and the daughter of Tracy and Erik Nygren. Ella plans to attend Texas A&M University and pursue a major in Public Health with a master’s degree in Speech Language and become a Pediatric Speech Therapist.

CDA No. 1962 Holds Its 60th Anniversary Family Dinner, Awards and Presentations

Court Annunciation No. 1962, Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA), celebrated its 60th Anniversary on Sunday, April 19, with close to 400 in attendance at the La Grange KC Community Center. Members and their families and many special guests enjoyed the social hour beginning at 3:30 p.m. that featured a looping slideshow and trifold exhibit boards filled with photos of past events. The hall was beautifully decorated with touches of elegance creating a very special atmosphere. Attendees received 60th Anniversary keepsake booklets filled with past and present information.
