How To Support Your Local Volunteer Fire Departments

Did you know that all of the fire departments in Fayette County are volunteer? That’s right, Fayette County’s approximately 960 square miles are covered by Volunteer Firefighters. According to U.S. Fire Administration, approximately 70% of the fire departments in Texas are volunteer.

Cynthia Regone astonished The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild (CVQG) with her beautifully designed and articulated colors used in all her quilts. Her lecture “Colorful Quilts....A Journey Through Fabric” and “Scrap Quilts...Too Much is Never Enough” showcased her various color choices. Cynthia explained the use of multiple fabric combinations, stash builders and how to make scrap quilts with 75 or more fabrics. Her lecture was enjoyed by all at the Guild.

Independence Day Celebrations Continue Through the Weekend

The Compound’s 8th Annual Independence Day Spectacular will be Saturday, July 6 beginning at 6 p.m. Please note, this was incorrect last week – it is taking place on Saturday this year. The event will have food trucks, live music by the Black Cat Choir, and a full bar by Ellis Motel. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs for the 9:15 p.m. fireworks show. Admission is $20 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the Round Top Warrenton VFD.

27th Annual Winchester VFD Fish Fry Set July 27

The Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Deptartment Fish Fry and Auction is scheduled to be held Saturday, July 27 at St. Michael’s Pavilion in Winchester. The meal will be served from 5-7 p.m. The meal will be a free-will donation and you may dine-in or carry-out. The silent auction will be available between 4- 6 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 6 p.m. The funds support the volunteer fire department which serves Winchester and the surrounding area.
