Independence Day Celebrations Continue Through the Weekend

The Compound’s 8th Annual Independence Day Spectacular will be Saturday, July 6 beginning at 6 p.m. Please note, this was incorrect last week – it is taking place on Saturday this year. The event will have food trucks, live music by the Black Cat Choir, and a full bar by Ellis Motel. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs for the 9:15 p.m. fireworks show. Admission is $20 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the Round Top Warrenton VFD.
Saturday, July 6, celebrate Independence Day at Harmonie Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m., and Risky Liver Band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $12 cash at the door. The bar will be open for drinks and set-ups, and the kitchen will be serving hamburgers. Chamber News
The Round Top Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting will be Thursday, July 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Round Top Brewing. The meeting is held at various locations around town on the second Tuesday of each month.
Town Council
Regular Council meeting dates are the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Town Hall, located at 100 Main Street, unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on this website at least seventy-two hours prior to the meeting time. Festival Hill
Here is the schedule for this week’s Summer Music Concert series: Saturday, July 6, Piano Galore in the Festival Concert Hall from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The Texas Festival Orchestra Concert is later that evening beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The weekly lineup of “Master Class” performances, held in the Edythe Bates Old Chapel daily at 1:30 p.m., is as follows: Monday - Chavdar Parashkevov, violin; Chen Zhao, violin; Tuesday - Kristin Wolfe Jensen, bassoon; Wednesday – Performance Psychology & Body Mapping with Jason Shafer and Kristin Wolfe Jensen; Thursday Nicholas Tisherman, oboe.
The Young Artsits Chamber Music Groups will perform in the Festival Concert Hall Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10 from 7-9 p.m. The “Best of Chamber Music 2024” will be Friday, July 12 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Next Saturday, July 13 is a Percussion Showcase from 1:30-2:30 p.m., and the Season Closing Concert at 7:30 p.m.

Round Top Family Library Yoga is held Mondays at 5 p.m., and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Preschool Story Time is Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11 is “Texas Snakes.” This free event, beginning at 3 p.m. will feature Clint Pustejovsky, and several of his reptile friends. Saturday, July 13 is Family Game Day beginning at 10 a.m.
Round Top Rifle Hall
The Monday Night Hamburger Social will pick back up this coming Monday, July 8. Come out for delicious burgers and spend some time with friends.
Round Top Hermann Sons Life Round Top Hermann Sons Life had their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 27, at the American Legion Hall. Vice President, Lila Garlin, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Margie Stardig’s son, Todd, paid a special visit from France.
Sympathy was expressed to the family of Nelvira Wolff who had been a member of our lodge since Dec. 9, 2010. She was born May 23, 1928 and died on June 19, 2024. Different members reported on the health issues of other members.
Happy birthday was sung to Max Baranowski who had birthday on June 19. Happy Anniversary to Jo Ann and Ray Ullrich, celebrating 5l years on June 2, and Leonard and Myrt Meinkowsky who were celebrating their anniversary this evening.
Attendance prizes were won by Jeanette Schoenst, Carmen Ebner, Randy Wied, Mary Rauch and Pearlie Wagner.
A delicious meal of sausage and sauerkraut with all the trimming plus lots of deserts was enjoyed. A big thank you to the outgoing committee of Margie Stardig, Lila and Barton Garlin, Pearlie and Wayne Wagner, La Verne Albers and Sedalia Ullrich. The next committee will be Mary, Sophie, and Melanie Rauch, Bob and Betty Porter, Valgene and Carmen Ebner, Dwight Nittsche and Randy Wied. The next meeting will be July 25.
Church News
Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s Sewing Circle will meet in the Educational Building Tuesday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m. Ruth Circle will meet Thursday, July 11 at 9:30 a.m. The Council Members will meet after the service Sunday, July 14.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s Ruth Circle members are asking the congregation to begin collecting plastic bottle caps from water or soda bottles, empty pill bottles with lids, aluminum pull tabs (poptops), and glasses and glasses cases. Collection containers will be set up on the kitchen counter in the Education building.
All members of Crossroads Shared Lutheran Ministry are asked to consider becoming a volunteer for either second Chance in La Grange, AMEN Food Pantry, or the Waldeck Food Truck.
