Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Application Deadline Nears

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now open. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for Fall 2024 semester. Applications are available online at texaswendish.org and must be submitted digitally by 5 p.m. Friday, July 12. Camp Lone Star Picnic Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will have their annual picnic on Sunday July 28. The day will start with special music at 10:30 a.m. An outdoor worship service at 11 a.m. with the installation of Rev. Ryan Neuhaus as the new CEO, a BBQ meal at noon and the benefit auction from 1-3 p.m. are just some of the activities planned for the day. The swimming pool will also be open from 1-2:30 p.m. for those wanting to enjoy the cool water. Each year Camp Lone Sar serves over 11,000 individuals through retreats, outdoor education and of course their summer camp ministry. This is a great event and a wonderful opportunity to show support for the camp and help it continue the ministry into the future.

Community Baseball 

There is not a game scheduled for July 7. Last week Serbin beat Shiner 14-4.

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center 

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center is busy with Summer Camp Season. Visit www. mytejasorg to keep up with all the latest news and events.

Game Day at Holy Cross The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday July 18 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo, dominoes and board games are offered.

Sewing Circle in Warda The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church). You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
