The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) invites the public to an engaging and educational presentation, “Czech Folklore in Texas: Festivities and Cuisine,” to be held at Hanslik Hall on March 31 at 6 p.m..

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton will host an Easter Picnic, April 5. The Easter Picnic has been a Moulton tradition. The event will be held on Easter Sunday at the St. Joseph’s Social Center. The day begins with Mass at 10 a.m. in the church followed by the blessing of Easter baskets and an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.

In honor of Yvonne McGowen, the McGowen family invites you to The Cookie Lady Ride to be held on Sunday, March 29 beginning at 9 a.m. Starting at the Square, the ride offers three different loop lengths: eight, 14 and 22 miles and combines them for longer rides. Helmets are required. Anyone under 18 must ride with an adult.

The Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will host a Showtunes Karaoke Night Saturday, March 28 at Rohan Meadery/La Grange Brewery located 6002 FM 2981, La Grange. The event begins at 6 p.m. with the karaoke contest concluding at 9 p.m. In addition to karaoke, a silent auction and raffle will be part of the fun to raise funds for the renovation of FCCT’s new theater in La Grange. The karaoke contest will allow audience members to vote for their favorite singer and song as performers compete for gift certificates and bragging rights. Gift certificates up grabs and raffle items are from area businesses including Royers Round Top Café, Schmidt Jewelry and many more.

On Monday, just before the cold front blew in, I ran into famous local well-digger Leo Wick, Sr. He told me, “You better cover your garden tonight, boy.” At the time, the weather app on my phone said it was only going to get down to 34 degrees that next morning.
