As the Fayette County Fair is fast approaching, many fairgoers think about the parade, the queen’s pageant, the entertainment, the livestock shows, the rides, while others like Jacob Darby, owner of Darby Family Farms, are thinking about root beer. Why root beer you may ask?

Two La Grange High School graduates from the Class of 2021 have accepted offers to continue their athletic careers in college. Wyatt Wick, the ace of the La Grange baseball pitching staff has accepted an offer to play baseball for Galveston College. Alyssa Dela Rosa, a star for the La Grange softball team has accepted an offer to play for Sam Houston State University.

We as a staff had an incredible time getting to know our student athletes better while also watching laughs and smile as they learn the game of basketball and each other. Mason Muras has finished his college baseball career. The La Grange High School graduate pitched two years for Blinn College.

La Grange’s Homer Bailey is back in pro baseball, though his return has been rough so far. Bailey, 35, who was a major league pitcher for 14 seasons after being drafted No.

The Tri-County Softball Umpires Association held their end of year social at the Hallettsville City Park Pavilion on Sunday July 11 and the group expressed their appreciation to all our members for their dedication and hard work during the season.

Two La Grange athletes were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State softball team. La Grange’s Natalie Blackwell was a first-team outfielder and Kailee Jones was named honorable mention outfield. Both are seniors.
