The Navidad Valley Cattle- Women serving the tri-county area of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties since 2004, will meet on Wednesday, March 30 at Cowgirl Provisions in Flatonia Members will gather at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is Dutch treat.

The La Grange boys and girls both won the team titles at the Columbus meet March 10. Below are the results. Qualifying LHS athletes will compete at the Texas Relays this week and Thursday at the Swamp Relays in Rice.

The Flatonia High School Girls Powerlifting team competed at the THSWPA State Meet in Corpus Christi on Wednesday March 16. Senior Guadalupe Mendiola finished 1st in the 181 lb. class of the 1A/2A division. Guadalupe lifted 450 lbs. in the squat, 205 lbs. in the bench press and 380 lbs. in the dead lift for a total of 1055 lbs. Guadalupe set a new State record with her 450 lb. squat. In addition to being the State Champion, she was honored as the outstanding lifter in the squat for the 165 lb.-259+ weight classes. Sophomore Aubree Mikulenka competed in the 148 lb. division and finished 8th. Aubree lifted 265 lbs. in the squat, 170. lbs in the bench press and 290 lbs. in the dead lift for a total of 725 lbs. LG Softball The La Grange girls softball team went to Austin Eastside Friday and smashed their way to a 23-0 win in the district opener for both teams. Abby Dela Rosa hit a home run and triple and drove in four runs.

The La Grange Leopards soccer team defeated Caldwell March 11 on the road, 1-0, to finish as outright district champs. The lone goal was scored by Jesus Soto. The team has not lost a game in regulation since Jan. 15. Their district record is 10-2-0 and overall record is 15-6-2.

La Grange JV Tennis competed at the Taylor High School Tournament last Thursday, March 10. Pictured are Jilian Hightower and Leela Doak, who won third place in girls doubles, and Phoebe Tucker and Rachel Matocha, who won the consolation championship in girls doubles.

The St. James’ Men’s Club recently cooked for the Boys and Girls Club of Champion Valley.

Taylor Limbaugh opened her Texas Tech University indoor track and field career with a strong start. The Schulenburg High School graduate finished second in the 3,000-meter run at the Red Raider Open, the top freshman in the field of six.

La Grange senior baseball player Kadyn Hall tossed a 7-3 outing for the Leopards first win of the season in a recent matchup against Cuero High School. Hall is also a catcher on the team, which demands a heavy workload and a high baseball IQ on the diamond.

The La Grange baseball tournament was held Thursday through Saturday at La Grange High School and Koether/Voelkel Field at the fairgrounds. The Leps lost their tourney opener 2-0 to Taylor, but bounced back Thursday night to down Cuero 7-3.
