Screams and squeaking shoes, A final buzzer, A winner . . . loser, At least as per score, Echo in mem’ry. One by one Some alone Some with child, They stop, They turn, They look, And sigh, The sounds . . . Screams and squeaking shoes, A final buzzer, A winner . . . loser, At least as per score, Echo in mem’ry.
