Library Events Upcoming

Library Director Allison Hollek reported during the city council meeting last week that Arts for Rural Texas partnered with the Library to offer a 10-week class catering to homeschool and non-traditional students in first through eighth grade. The class began this Wednesday, Sept. 16. The library is also partnering with Parents as Teachers to offer a monthly bilingual storytime. These storytime events take place every second Friday of the month at 10:15 a.m. The first one took place last week, and about 15 people attended. The library’s annual genealogy workshop is scheduled for October 16 from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Hollek also announced that the Library is planning a Renaissance Festival in October with details to be announced at a later date.

In addition, Mayor Dockery announced that she is organizing a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk from La Grange High School to the Library on Oct. 10 starting at 9 a.m. Look for details in a future edition of the Record.
