Balloon Business Blowing Up For La Grange Mother of Six
Positively Inspirational
In this monthly series, local realtor Andrea Schutter Riebeling does a Q & A with local business leaders about what inspires them.
This month’s interview is with Cassandra Butler of La Grange.
1.) What is your business? Sandy’s Touch 2.) How did you get started?
The owner of Decor by Angel Jo saw some balloons I made for a friend of mine’s baby shower and asked me to be her balloon girl. I wasn’t in business then I was just responsible for decorating and wanted to do something a little different.
Once getting started with her, others started seeing my work and asking me to do set ups for them, and I later came up with Sandy’s Touch.
3.) How long have you been in business? About 3 years
4.) Is this a Family or Female business? Female business. I get help from my daughters Faith and Shauntaisha at times and even my sister when she’s not busy with her toddler but most setups I handle on my own.
5.) What kind of service do you provide in addition to the balloon arches? I can do balloon decor including balloon arches, columns, table arches, and balloon garlands.
6.) Tell me something unique about your business?
I think the uniqueness about my business is the heart I put into every set up I do.
It’s not just a business. I take pride in putting smiles on faces. Reasonable prices. I take pride in giving back and Sandy’s Touch has allowed me to be a sponsor to different organizations and give to some that don’t have as much.
7.) What is your background?
I was born in Houston but raised here in La Grange. I work full time at Utex Industries. I am a wife and a mother of six.
8.) What do you suggest to others who want to venture out and take a leap of action in the future of their career? Do it! You can never say you couldn’t do it if you never tried to do it.
9.) Do you believe in college, trade school, or any training? Absolutely! I grew up wanting to be a Cosmetologist. Due to my mother getting sick, I decided to work and not finish and never went back. I always regret it because it was a dream I had as a little girl. Get the proper training, get the certification, get the degree so you can make as much money as you want to make off of your greatness. Do something you know you love so you will have fun while you do it.
10.) How did you decide to make La Grange your home? I grew up here and enjoyed my small town life. I wanted to be close to my mother and my husband had found a job he really liked. Not long after the adoption of my two nieces was final, we lost our home to Hurricane Harvey. Knowing all things work for the greater good, there was no stress. My family was beyond blessed by family and friends from all over and the community of La Grange. In the middle of looking for a new home we met Andrea Riebeling she found land for us that fit our budget for our home quick.
The support Sandy’s Touch gets from the area puts a smile on my face. I have had contacts from all over because of likes, shares and mentions on social media or simply someone giving my number to someone new and I appreciate it all. I have done so many set ups from balloons being on the ceiling to sunflowers on chairs and again it is the smiles for me.
