It’s Feed the Need Gobble Kit Season
Fayette County is a wonderful place to live for many reasons. The people that live here and support each other through genuine community is one of the main reasons. Every year in the fall this is demonstrated through the Feed the Needs Gobble Kit Campaign. A Gobble Kit is all the items needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for a family, including a frozen turkey and a bag of groceries. These Gobble Kits are distributed to families that sign up for one by coming to our Feed the Need site on Mondays on the square in La Grange 5:30-7:30 p.m. starting Monday October 26 (sign ups run for four weeks). Please help us spread the word to any family that could be blessed by receiving everything needed to cook a thanksgiving dinner for their family.
We distribute over 200 Gobble kits each year and need the community’s help to get it done. To pack a kit you pick up a bag from one of our Gobble Kit distribution partners, fill it according to the shopping instructions on the bag (including $20 for us to purchase the turkey and a card of encouragement) and return it to the Agrilife Extension office on Svoboda Lane or the business or church you got the bag from. If you would like to participate but are unable to shop/pack the bag you can go to feedtheneed.org/gobblekits to donate or sponsor the event and we will gratefully pack the bag for you. Another very helpful way to participate is to come to our distribution night or one of the four weeks of sign ups (starting Oct. 26) to help us. Distribution night is Nov. 23 at our normal Feed the Need site starting at 5 p.m.
We are very appreciative of our Gobble Kit partners listed below that have bags for you to pick up and pack. Please go by get some gobble kit bags and thank these gracious businesses and churches for their participation. If you don’t see your favorite church, group, or business but want to or if you have questions, please let us know by coming by our Feed the Need site on Mondays 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Fayette Co. Courthouse, call or text Jeremy Finch (979) 206-0286, or visit feedtheneed. org/gobblekits
