ARTS’ Art After School Enrollment Opens
Arts for Rural Texas has opened its enrollment for their free Art After School program. Classes are being offered for elementary school children in Fayetteville, La Grange, Schulenburg, Weimar and Flatonia. ARTS’ classes offered in collaboration with the Round Top Library will soon be posted.
ARTS’ after school classes introduce children to various forms of art while encouraging creative thinking in a fun and safe environment. Taught by local artists, musicians, and educators, classes are designed to build self-confidence while contributing to artistic skills, leadership development, better academic performance and barrier breaking. Here students learn problem solving, confidence, and develop team building skills with their peers.
Art After School is held weekly during the school year in six communities, three private schools, and two Boys and Girls Clubs in Fayette county. All materials are provided. Locations are opening at different times and are listed on our web page. At many locations, buses will deliver the children to the campus (if not held in the school) with parent picking them up at 5 p.m. Art After School is a fun environment designed as an extra-curricular learning activity for youth and not an after school day care.
Fall classes include arts and crafts, youth choir and music, found object instrument making, fiber works and more. All supplies and instruction are provided to youth free of charge and supported through grants and donations from individual who recognize the contributions the arts offer to the development of communities.
Class sizes are limited and all classes are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. The schedule and enrollment forms are available online https://artsforruraltexas.org/art-after-school.
