Tejas Camp to Host Day of Family Fun and Adventure
Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be hosting a Free Family Fun Day on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 3-7 p.m. This will be an afternoon filled with great food, exciting activities and wonderful time together. Free burgers will be provided by Feed The Need. Activities will include swimming in the lake and pool, climbing wall and zipline, as well as ax throwing and plenty activities for all ages. No RSVP is needed, children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult, no drop-offs. Bring sunscreen, towels (if swimming), dry change of clothing and close toed shoes if you are doing the climbing wall or zip lines.
South Lee Co. VFD BBQ South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will have their 46th Annual BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. BBQ will be available to go at 4:30 p.m. at the pits. From 5-7:30 p.m. beef and pork barbecue plates with all the trimmings will be available for a free will donation. Silent auction will be from 3-6 p.m. The Blue Sunset Band will play from 3:306:30 p.m., and kids barrel train rides will be from 5-8:30 p.m. There will be a live auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go towards updating fire equipment.
Winchester Annual Fish Fry The Winchester VFD Annual Fish Fry will be held Saturday, July 25 at St. Michael’s pavilion in Winchester. The meal will be served from 5-7 p.m. Dine in or take-out.Afree will offering will be collected. Silent auction will run from 4-6 p.m. with the live auction starting at 6 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available before the event. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out and support their local Winchester Fire Department.
Camp Lone Star BBQ
Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will have their Annual BBQ Auction and Fundraiser on Sunday, July 26. The day will start with special music at 10:30 a.m. followed by an outdoor worship service at 11 a.m., barbeque meal at noon and the benefit auction from 1-3 p.m. The swimming pool will be open from 1-2:30 p.m. Each year the camp served over 11,000 individuals through retreats, outdoor education and summer camps. They are looking for donations of quality auction items. Summer Camp registration, including their day camp program, for campers age 5-18 is also open. Register at www. camplonestar.org.
Holy Cross Church Picnic
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Holy Cross Church Picnic to be held Sunday, Sept. 6 in Warda and the 38th Annual Wendish Fest to be held on Sunday, Sept. 27 in Serbin.
Serbin Jackrabbits
The Serbin Jackrabbits played New Ulm July 12, the score was Serbin 4, New Ulm 5. They will play their next game on Sunday, July 26 in the final playoffs in La Grange.
Bluff Creek Ranch
Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will host the Blazing Saddles all day race on Aug. 15.
Holy Cross Sewing Circle
The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 2423333 if you have any questions. Game Day at Holy Cross
The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.
Recycle Trailer in Warda The Warda area recycle trailer is located across the street from the Holy Cross Fellowship Hall. If you have aluminum cans, they can be dropped off in the big wire basket at the picnic grounds. The money from the cans supports the youth group at Holy Cross.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
