Fall Round Up Returns Oct. 3 at Stray Gatherings Cowboy Church

Fall is fast approaching and Stray Gatherings Cowboy Church is gearing up for some fall fun. SG2C has scheduled a Fall Round Up on Saturday, Oct. 3. This will be a really fun community gathering with so many kid and adult activities. The details are being ironed out, but if last year’s Fall Round Up was any indication of what is to come, it will be a really fun family activity. SG2C is located behind the park and meets each Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts along with some old-fashioned fellowship and visiting. At 10 a.m., worship service begins and anyone young or old is invited to come out and see what the church is all about.

Out and About 

Lane Rightmer arrived from Austin to her parents, Jennifer and Clay Rightmer’s home to meet up with her old friend Hannah who came in from the Houston area. The friends met up half way and enjoyed a lot of time catching up and relaxing in the country.

Roberta Gullick enjoyed taking off for a few days to visit with her long-time friends Randy and Pam Casteel in Liberty. Pam recently had fallen and broke her wrist, so Roberta’s visit was welcomed as a change of pace.

Ron and Pam Knotts were surprised recently by family passing through town. Pam’s brother and his wife, Ray and Christy Langenberg were returning from an overnight at their ranch near Hallettsville and got to Flatonia about lunch time. After a short cruise around town, they settled on Darlin’s Diner for chow. A long, leisurely meal allowed for lots of catching up about kids and grandkids.After lunch and a quick walk through the gift shop, the group wandered down the street to Fayette County Outfitters for a look at the guitars on display. Pam’s brother loves to play the guitar and is quite good.All shopping done, the group made a quick stop at the Railroad Museum before Ray and Christy headed to see the painted churches and Ron and Pam headed home to feed the cows.

Rain 

Muldoon as been seeing some rain, depending where under the cloud you were how much you got. Beginning on Sunday evening and continuing on well into the week rain was falling. As much as six and one half inches was reported in a three-day rain report total beginning Sunday afternoon to Wednesday morning. Heavy showers fell on Tuesday, filling the ditches and also helped in filling the stock tanks that were starting look on the dry side. This was much-needed rainfall throughout the area.

Hogs 

The hogs are back making the rounds through the area. They are very destructive, tearing up pastures. Hopefully the rains will help move them out of the area. Be careful driving through the Muldoon area because the hogs crossing the roads are hard to see and easy to hit. Some of the hogs are very large and can do lots of damage.

Neighborhood Watch 

Summer being the season many go on vacation, be sure and be proactive and get your trusted neighbor to watch out for your place while you are gone. Let that neighbor know to keep an eye out for strange vehicles and people around your place. Have them pick up your mail and keep things tidy around the house. This little bit of help can help prevent crimes from happening.

Always watch out for your neighbor and let them know if you see something out of place or odd going on. In a small community, we can all pull together to keep each other safe.

Little Lending Library 

Looking for a summer read? Stop by Muldoon’s Little Lending Library in front of the fire station for a chance to pick up a new read or to drop off a book you have finished and would like to share. The assortment of books is always changing, so stop by and take a look. Borrow a book, or leave one. This is a great resource and it does not cost anything.
