Leech
For Edward Thomas Leech, life had meaning to his last breath. With the disease Primary Progressive Aphasia, he faced his challenges and fate with courage. Even though he was unable to move his body or to communicate with words and memory, he would whistle and continue making those around him feel happy, as he had done throughout his 87 years. His lifetime of kindness to others gave him a happy heart. He never wanted to burden family and friends with the trauma of his disease. He died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.
Becker
Funeral services for Monroe Becker, 90, of Serbin, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, followed in the church cemetery.
Monroe Herman Becker was born on May 14, 1933 in Serbin to Martin Ernst and Minnie Selma (Noack) Becker.
Monroe passed away the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024 at the Towers Nursing Home in Smithville.
Cernosek
Born on July 15, 1932, to Frank and Amalie Machala, Amalie Martha “Molly” Cernosek, 91 years young, left this life on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, in Smithville and was reunited with her beloved husband, Richard, in the afterlife. After almost 68 years of marriage, the couple was separated on this earth by Richard’s death in 2020; what a reunion heaven has just witnessed!
