Velma Jean Behrens, affectionately known as Granny, went to her eternal home on Sept. 30, 2025. Born on July 23, 1933, in Thorndale to H. P. and Sidonia Weiser. Velma Jean’s life was a testament to the virtues of faith, love, and spirited joy. She departed this world peacefully due to natural causes in La Grange surrounded by the love of her family.

Roy Harbers passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2025. Born to Richard and Clara (Kirchhofer) Harbers on Nov. 24, 1943, in La Grange, Roy’s life was marked by his selfless loving nature, his handy skills and his wonderful sense of humor.

JoAnn Mascheck-Greenwood passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2025, in Hillsboro.

Lummus Arnold Hannes, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 27, 1942, in Dime Box to Arnold and Laura (Fuchs) Hannes. Lummus was a man of remarkable character, whose life was a testament to the values of hard work, endless love for family and strong steadfast faith in the Lord. He passed away peacefully, knowing he would be greeted at the gates of Heaven by his Lord, and anxiously waiting to be reunited into the arms of his sweetheart, Agnes.

Shanan Gail Marburger, 59, of Brenham, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Guenther Rietz, 95, on Sept. 9, 2025 at his residence. He was born on Oct. 16, 1929 in Freyburg to Guenther and Alma “Loth” Rietz. In his final days, he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and loving caregivers.

Dorothy Jean Vyvjala Hajek, 79, of La Grange, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Austin on Sept. 12, 2025.

Funeral services for Edward Alvin Buscha, 86, of Greens Creek, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda with Rev. Dustin Beck officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral services for Eleanor Loehr are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 at New Life Methodist Church (1215 N. Von Minden St., La Grange) beginning at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Williams Creek Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home (967 E. Colorado St., La Grange).
