Richard Steve Cernosek, 84, peacefully entered eternity Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at his home in Flatonia. Born in La Grange on July 4, 1941, to Steve and Mary Cernosek, he was the oldest of three children. Richard graduated from Weimar High School in 1959 and from Wharton County Junior College in 1961. He began his career in accounting at Herder Truck Lines in Weimar. After serving in the Army, he returned to Herder Truck Lines where he met his perfect match, Alice June Wehmeyer.

Melvin August Schilling, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called to his eternal home on Nov. 7, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 7, 1929, in the quaint town of Winedale, to Adolph and Olga Makowsky Schilling. He was baptized on June 16, 1929 at Winedale Lutheran Church and he reaffirmed his Christian faith through Confirmation on Feb. 7, 1943 in Greenvine, Texas at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Melvin’s life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and hard work.
