Lillian Agnes (Ermis) Machala, a lifelong resident of Plum, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Dec. 24, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 8, 1933, Lillian’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, loving spirit, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.

Lillian’s heart and home were always open, and her hands never idle. She was devoted to her family, nurturing six children, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild with love, wisdom, and the kind of home-cooked meals that could only come from her kitchen.

Her children, Carolyn (Dan) Madole of Madisonville, David Machala of Plum, Shirley Kruse of West Point, Edward Machala of Plum, Timothy (Cindy) Machala of La Grange, and Patrick (Mary) Machala of Plum, each carry with them the legacy of her gentle guidance and strength.

A devout Christian, Lillian’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a pillar of her church community, actively involved in the Altar Society, St. Anne’s KJZT#25 Society, and lifted her voice in praise as a member of the Czech choir. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her everyday actions and the way she selflessly served others.

Lillian’s interests reflected her love for the earth and her community. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry of colors and flavors, and she took great pride in canning the fruits of her labor for her family to enjoy year-round. Sewing was another of her talents, creating beautiful garments and quilts that were both practical and filled with care. She was also known for her culinary skills, especially her traditional Czech recipes that brought a sense of heritage and family to every gathering.

Her generosity extended beyond her family; she was always the first to offer help to friends and neighbors. Lillian’s presence was a comforting one, and her advice was often sought after for its wisdom and compassion.

Lillian’s departure leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to flourish in the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared, the traditions passed down, and the countless lives she impacted with her gracious spirit.

As we say farewell to Lillian Agnes (Ermis) Machala, we are reminded of the beauty of a life well-lived and the enduring power of love. She was a beacon of light in her community and an embodiment of the virtues she held dear. Her journey on this earth may have ended, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her beloved family and friends.
