With two more COVIDrelated deaths in Fayette County the past few days (raising the total to 76 since the pandemic) a trio of longtime Fayette County doctors are expressing frustration about locals’ hesitancy to get vaccinated – and urging anyone who has not gotten their COVID vaccination to do so.

It might not be your fault but it’s your responsibility. That’s the message Mike Wallace, a Frisch Auf! resident sent to the Fayette County Commissioners Court at their regular meeting Thursday.

The court agreed that November’s Constitutional Amendment election’s early voting would be the first to be held at the new election office at the Meadows Building on Ellinger Road. Early voting has previously always been held at the courthouse.

Fayette County EMS is exploring the idea of building an new EMS station just outside the Schulenburg city limits. It addition to the station, the facility would include a treatment room for public health service efforts.

Ivermectin, a medicine long used in the prevention of parasitic worms in both livestock and people is on the rise locally and nationwide by people who are trying to use it to treat and/or prevent COVID.

As the school year gets underway, we’re profiling a new teacher at all five public school districts in Fayette County. Last in the series is Claire Spaeth who is a new 3rd grade teacher at Schulenburg ISD.

During their Aug. 5 monthly meeting members of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Auxiliary prepared welcome back goodie bags for all faculty and staff of the Round Top-Carmine School District for their return to campus for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Festival Hill’s August-to-April Series begins Saturday, Aug. 28 with the Chamber Music Trio performing at 3 p.m. The concert will feature Louis- Marie Fardet on cello, Chavdar Parashkevov on violin, and Viktor Valkov on piano, performing works by Beethoven.
