New Teacher Feature: Schulenburg ISD’s Claire Spaeth

As the school year gets underway, we’re profiling a new teacher at all five public school districts in Fayette County. Last in the series is Claire Spaeth who is a new 3rd grade teacher at Schulenburg ISD.

Spaeth who is 25 years old was born and raised in Yoakum and graduated high school from St. Paul in Shiner and went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University knew she wanted a teaching job in Schulenburg because of her fiance. “My fiancé is from Schulenburg, and as soon as I had my interview I knew this was the school for me. Plus everyone is so welcoming and helpful here,” said Spaeth. Spaeth and her fiance Seth Eckhardt will be getting married this December.

Spaeth is teaching 3rd grade science and social studies. “I really enjoy working with that age group,” said Spaeth. “Since school has started the kids and staff have shown me that this is going to be a great experience and school year.”

Question: What was the first concert you went to?

Answer: “My first concert was Brooks and Dunn.”

Question: What is your favorite book and why?

Answer: “The Great Gatsby, I love historical fiction.”

Question: What is your favorite store to shop at?

Answer: “TJ Maxx”

Question: Name three things you like to do in your free time.

Answer: “I enjoy crocheting blankets, walking my dog, and swimming.”

Question: What was your least favorite subject in school?

Answer: “I have never been amazing at math.”

Spaeth may be gaining a fiancé this year, but it looks like Schulenburg ISD has also gained a great new teacher.
