Talk about a big door bell: Thrivent Financial agent Erich Lehmann installed a huge bronze bell in front of his office on the Square in La Grange last week. If you’re walking by, give it a ring.

Volunteers from the La Grange Optimist Club and other community members spent Tuesday and Wednesday cleaning up fire extinguisher foam from all over the court and stands of the old gym on the La Grange elementary campus. The gym floor is shown above covered with the stuff, which proved very hard to get up. The vandalism is believed to have occurred at some point Monday night after the conclusion of an Optimist basketball camp at the gym. If you have any information please contact Misty Touchet with the Optimist Club at 979-639-1551. There were some cameras around the gym that Touchet was hoping to get some more evidence from later this week.

The number of COVID cases in Fayette County doubled in a three-day span. Sunday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services there were 80 active cases of COVID in Fayette County.

Municipal and school board elections take place on Saturday, May 7. The first day for candidates to file for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, Jan. 19. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. Write-in candidates have until Wednesday, Feb. 22 to file for a place on the ballot. The offices listed below are up for election in May. Sacred Heart Catholic School 6th graders came to Jefferson Place in La Grange before Christmas to sing carols and hand out filled stocking to the residents. Youth group members from the Queen of the Holy Rosary and Sts.

The Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 presented a $200 donation to Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange from the Religious Education Grant they received from the KJT Home Office. The funds will be used to purchase texts for each family in their school to help them integrate the Gospel and attend/participate in Mass more often and in a deep meaningful way.
