On the Heels of County Elections Could Come a Host of City/School Ones

Municipal and school board elections take place on Saturday, May 7. The first day for candidates to file for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, Jan. 19. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. Write-in candidates have until Wednesday, Feb. 22 to file for a place on the ballot. The offices listed below are up for election in May. Current officeholders are listed in parentheses.

City of La Grange

• Councilmember, Ward 1 (Kathy Weishuhn)

• Councilmember, Ward 2 (Violet Zbranek)

• Councilmember, Ward 3 (Dustin Littrell)

• Councilmember, Ward 4 (Quenten Gonzalez)

• Councilmember, Ward 4* (Chris Jernigan)

* The Ward 4 election is for a special one-year term. Jernigan was appointed in 2021 to fill a vacant seat.

La Grange ISD School Board

• Trustee, Place 1 (Dr. Don Mayer)

City of Schulenburg

• Councilmember, Place 3 (Ben Herzik)

Schulenburg ISD will hold an election for two at-large seats on the school board. Those positions are currently held by Steve Dees and Tony Shank.

Town of Round Top

The Town of Round Top will hold an election for mayor and two town council positions. The current office holders are Mayor Mark Massey and Aldermen Frank Hillbolt and Lynn Conine.

Round Top-Carmine ISD

Round Top-Carmine ISD will not hold an election since none of the school board seats are up for election this year.

City of Ellinger

The City of Ellinger hold elections every other year. The next election for Ellinger mayor and city commissioners will be in 2023.
