A Closer Look at the Pct. 2 JP Race Ahead of Saturday’s Candidate Forum
The Justice of the Peace (JP) Precinct 2 Republican primary is a three-way race with Brad Neville, Victor Weishuhn and Jamie Moreau vying for the position. Join them all at the candidate debate for JPs in our precinct this Saturday, Jan. 29 from 5-9 p.m. at the Ellinger C of C Hall. It will be followed by a debate between the candidates for County Judge.
Fayetteville resident Brad Neville has 15 years of experience with the sheriff’s office and over 20 years as captain of the Fayetteville Volunteer Department. He’s a member of St. John’s where he’s contributed lots of volunteer hours. “Being the JP in Fayetteville would be a great honor. My family has lived in Fayette County since the 1800’s,” said Neville.

Victor Weishuhn was born and raised in the Round Top area, close to Waldeck. His family has deep roots in the community. Weishuhn graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 2007. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business from Sam Houston State. His current position as meat inspector for the Texas Department of State Health Services has molded him to be more proficient in understanding state laws and regulations.
“This is a new and exciting experience that I very much look forward to seeing through. It would be a great honor to represent Precinct 2 as your JP and I would work hard to meet the expectations of the community.
“The experiences I’ve gained after college, working in outside sales, teaching, and most recently as a meat inspector for the last five years, have helped shape the man I’ve become. These positions required getting to know a variety of people and to be able to clearly communicate with them. I’m decisive and very dedicated to the task at hand,” said Weishuhn.
“I’m a member of the Round Top-Carmine Young Farmers Chapter, North Central Fayette County Wildlife Association, Independent Cattlemen’s Association, and a volunteer for the Fayette County Commercial Heifer Show. Jamie Moreau discussed her run for JP. “The job involves everything from pronouncing deaths to serving as a magistrate at the jail. These needs, plus small claims court, minor traffic violations, evictions and truancy all bring a level of crisis to those involved. My professional and personal experiences are rich in serving families in times of varied situations. I bring the keen ability to step into someone’s crisis and create a sense of calm and compassion while meeting their needs. I’ll address the many aspects of the JP’s office as not only a judge but as an advocate,” said Moreau.
She has a Master’s in Psychology and spent over a decade working in the emergency room at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, providing sick and dying children with emotional support. “I taught at FISD where my children attend school. I value the family-oriented, hardworking people of Fayetteville. Food Pantry
Look for the Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry to be at St. John on Thursday, Feb. 3. from 10-11 a.m. Drive-thru only. Someone will direct traffic. Please remain in your car and make room inside your trunks or truck beds for the prepackaged food boxes. Volunteers will load you up. All clients and volunteers are required to wear facemasks and to social distance.
