The La Grange Ministerial Alliance is planning a community-wide worship and praise service to benefit Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Hostyn. The service will take place Sunday, Aug. 14, from 4-6 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange.

Ellinger Mayor Matt Mikulenka signed a proclamation designating June 14 as Flag Day in Ellinger. On hand for the signing were members of KJZT Family Life Society 41 of Ellinger. After a two-year recess for COVID, University of Texas Shakespeareans have set up camp in Fayette County and are well underway. Session one explores one of Shakespeare’s brightest comedies, “As You Like It.” Welcoming the challenges of Shakespeare’s words and characterizations, the students rise early to begin their day and retire late, following a schedule of creative activities that forge an ensemble approach to the play.

On Thursday, June 9, eight remarkable young women aged 15-23 graced the stage of the Bugle Boy listening room in La Grange, for an evening of songs accompanied by award-winning Texas artists Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines. The concert was the culmination of an unforgettable week of songwriting and fun organized and presented by the Bugle Boy Foundation in collaboration with the Schulenburg-based non-profit organization “And Then A New Day,” founded by Erin Wotipka, which works to help young adults with learning challenges find a meaningful purpose in life.
