Traffic Fatality in Cistern

Saturday a serious two-car automobile accident with an entrapment occurred off of Hwy 95 near Cistern. The Muldoon Fire Chief Stephen Kelly Chief immediately called for mutual aid from Flatonia Fire Department and Air Evac 47. “Our departments have a great relationship and worked collaboratively to extricate two patients and send one via Air Evac to the hospital and three by ambulance. Unfortunately, there was one fatality,” Kelly said. Muldoon firefighters continued to provide traffic control to protect Texas DPS while their investigation was ongoing.

County Floodplain Regulations Called ‘Unreasonable’

Should Fayette County landowners have to get a floodplain permit to build even when their property is out of the floodplain? What about if all they plan to build is a fence or a garden? Those were some of the questions posed at last Thursday’s Commissioners Court meeting by Plum resident and former Fayette County Judge candidate William Bernsen. Bernsen called some of the County’s floodplain regulations “unreasonable.” He especially took issue with the fact that Fayette County requires a flood permit for all development in the County, even when it takes place outside of the floodplain.

The American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will host their annual Christmas Party on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a catered meal served at 6 p.m. The Post and Unit members and spouse/guest are invited to attend the festive event honoring and thanking Veterans for their service to our country.

Fayetteville Celebrates A ‘Country Christmas’

Saturday afternoon rain showers didn’t dampen the holiday spirit in Fayetteville as folks packed the town square for their annual “Country Christmas” extravaganza. The event included a homes tour, lighted parade (shown left), a Christmas tree village and visits with Santa inside the old fire station.
