Fayette County 4-H Competes In State Fair Livestock Judging

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the State Fair of Texas Livestock Judging Contest on Monday, Oct. 10 in Dallas. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team 2 placed 9th overall. Team members consisted of Kullen Kutac, Addison Berckenhoff, Alexis Berckenhoff, and Adalyn Carrales. Kullen was 2nd high in Sheep/Goats and Addison Berckenhoff was 9th high in Sheep/Goats. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team 3 placed 10th overall. Team members consisted of Rheagan Karisch, Abraham McBride, Crockett Guenther, and Kaisley Janecka. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team 1 placed 54th overall. Team members consisted of Rilan Karisch, Hayleigh Pizzitola, Kinely Kutac, and Julia Melton. The Fayette County 4-H Senior Team placed 55th overall. Team members consisted of Grant Kubala, Karely Freytag, Kaelan Freytag, and Colbey Schulze. 1972: Dennis E. Petras Wins New Pinto Station Wagon

Dennis E. Petras, a University of Texas student in Austin, was awarded a brand new 1973 Ford Pinto station wagon by Austin Minimax stores. He signed up for the ‘free registration, no obligation’ drawing at the Town Lake Minimax Store. The award highlighted a four-week promotion by the grocery chain in the capital city. Dennis was the son of Mrs. Millie Petras of Mullins Prairie.

Fayette 4-H Competes in Washington County Livestock Judging Contest

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Washington County Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, Sept. 17 in Brenham. The Fayette County Maroon 4-H Junior team placed 1st overall. Team members consisted of Kaisley Janecka, Alexis Berckenhoff, Crockett Guenther, and Abraham McBride. Kaisley was high point individual, Alexis was 3rd, Crockett was 4th, and Abraham was 5th.
Senior Team: Cooper Mau, Harper Mau, Peyton Gilchrest, and Kaelan Freytag.

TxDOT Outreach Event Oct. 24 in Yoakum

TxDOT is hosting an outreach event Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 to gather input for future accessibility improvements as outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This event is part of a statewide initiative to promote awareness and gain feedback from the public on ADA issues related to the state highway system. TxDOT representatives will discuss the department’s ADA process. In conjunction with this meeting, TxDOT will also provide an overview of the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TA Set-Aside) Program and the 2023 Call for projects. The TA Set-Aside program provides funding for non-motorized modes of transportation across the state, including bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
