Shelby American Legion Post 602 is raising money to place the five military flags on the square in Fayetteville. They have a raffle for an American eagle with flag quilt going on now. The quilt is on display at Fayetteville Bank in Fayetteville and tickets are available there.

Several local weather buffs noticed recently that Austin television news stations haven’t been reporting weather information from the Fayette Regional Air Center in La Grange. Moreover, weather information from the airport has also been missing from the National Weather Service website.

The La Grange Elementary Cafeteria was the scene of an emotional family reunion last Thursday, Nov. 17.

With a month yet to go, 2022 has been a banner year for Fayette County towns’ sales tax revenue. All seven towns in the county are up from any previous year.

The Hospice Brazos Valley Christmas Arts and Craft Market which has been such a positive way to promote hospice as well as the wonderful homemade gifts that many local artists produce has been cancelled. There appears to be too much competition for those artists with all the craft markets this time of the year. We appreciate the vendors and those who came and shopped to make the market a success in previous years and wish them success in the future.

Feed the Need Mission of La Grange gave out about 200 turkeys to local families at their regular hamburger night on the La Grange Square Monday, Nov. 21.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on 11-17-2022, at approximately 8:10pm, inmate Deshawn Villanueva, 30 years old from La Grange, claimed he was sick and the Corrections Officer staff contacted Fayette County EMS to have him evaluated. EMS transported him to St. Mark Emergency room with a Corrections Officer on board. The prisoner was secured with restraints. While at St. Mark’s and still restrained, the inmate ran out of the ER doors.
