Garage Sale
The annual Round Top Area Historical Society garage sale will be held this Saturday, Feb. 18 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 397 E. Mill St. (behind the Round Top Post Office). Household items, glassware, furniture, antiques, linens, fabrics, pillows, books, record albums, lamps, and new merchandise added. Food Bank
The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it.
Veterans Service
The Veterans Service Office has moved to the AgriLife Extension Building at 255 Svoboda Ln., Suite 110. The phone number is the same, (979) 968-5254. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Lunch break is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Women’s Shooting League
A women’s shooting league is coming to La Grange. Meet and greet Robyn Sandoval, A Girl and A Gun Executive Director and Crystal Duke, La Grange Chapter Facilitator, at the Fayette County Gun Club located at 5338 N. US Hwy. 77 on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 2-4 p.m. A Girl & A Gun was established by women shooters, is run by women shooters, for women shooters. All events are supervised by women Certified Firearms Instructors, and all facilitators are women who can “speak girl.” At events you learn and practice safe firearm handling skills, receive encouragement, ask questions in a safe and non-judgmental environment to improve marksmanship skills, and make new friends. Prairie Valley Cemetery
The Prairie Valley Cemetery Association will have their annual membership meeting on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at the St. Peter Lutheran Church Parish Hall. All owners of lots are encouraged to attend this annual meeting.
AMEN Pantry Hours
The AMEN Pantry will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of President’s Day and will open on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for normal distribution hours from 9 a.m. until noon.

Garbage Holiday Schedule

Chicken Fried Steak Fundraiser The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the KC Hall in La Grange on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried steak, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, white gravy and a roll for $12 a plate. VFW Post No. 5254 & Auxiliary
A light meal and meetings will be held by the La Grange Fayette Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the VFW Home at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. A joint VFW and Auxiliary light meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the VFW Post meeting. New potential members are invited to attend.

LG Elementary Library Book Fair
Grown-ups are welcome to come and shop the La Grange Elementary Library Book Fair after school from 4 until 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 22-28. Round Top Hermann Sons Life
Round Top Hermann Sons Life will meet Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Happy hour at 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Special guest speaker will be Ian Brassett, Executive Director of the HSL camp in Comfort. This is an open meeting for anyone interested in the HSL camp program for children ages 9 through 13, or becoming a member of Hermann Sons Life. Hot dogs will be served after the meeting and members are asked to bring sides or desserts.
La Grange Garden Club Meeting
The La Grange Garden Club will meet at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23. This month’s program will feature Renee Blaschke, former president of the National Garden Club, the Texas Garden Club and the Smithville Garden Club, and will provide information on joining the Texas Garden Club. The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host a drive-thru fish fry on Friday, Feb. 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Center located at 190 S. Bake Sale Saturday
Mrs. Hoelscher and Mrs.Tousek’s La Grange Middle School 8th grade classes are having a bake sale in front of Brawley Dental in La Grange on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m. until sold out. The bake sale will benefit the La Grange Optimist Club to help with sign up fees and equipment. Please come out and help our local youth.
Kids Self Defense Crash Course
A beginners Kids Self Defense Crash Course will be held Feb. 25 beginning 10 a.m. at 200 S. Eagle St. in Weimar. Admission is free and for ages 7-12. Only eight spots are available. Students will learn the fundamentals of self defense and jiu-jitsu. Kids are encouraged to bring water and wear something comfortable.

Domino Tournament
The La Grange KC Community Center located at 190 S. Brown in La Grange will host a domino tournament Sunday, Feb. 26. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and play starts at 10 a.m. Prize will be awarded according to entries. Straight or 42 Round Robin play for $20 per team. A barbecue chicken dinner will be avilable for $10.
PreSchool Story Time
Round Top Family Library will have weekly storytime for three and four year olds on Wednesdays from 10:15 until 11 a.m. in the library. Preschoolers will hear an age appropriate book and participate in activities such as art music or a game. Parent or guardian must be present. The library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top and is a free program.
Habitat Offering Pick-up Service Habitat Home Supply has announced that it is now offering a free furniture pick-up service in the Schulenburg area. Volunteers will be available to come and collect larger donations every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. Habitat Home Supply sells gently used home goods and building materials to support the mission of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity. Since their founding, the organization has built eight homes in Fayette County, two of them right in Schulenburg. Habitat is currently finishing a repair project in Schulenburg and has another scheduled to begin on Valentine’s Day.
