La Grange City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 in observance of New Year’s Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday. Residential and commercial garbage service will be on your normal day.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Friday, Dec. 16, the Fayette County Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the Carter Motel in reference to narcotics being sold from one of the rooms.

Applications for the 2023 Bluebonnet Master Gardener Intern Class which will be held in La Grange are now being accepted. For anyone interested in participating in the Master Gardener training program, the deadline for signing up is Thursday, Jan. 19. There is a fee of $200 per participant, which will cover the cost of materials, and defray speaker expenses. An application must be completed and turned in with the money in order to be considered registered. Class size is limited. The classes will be held on Thursday mornings beginning on Jan. 19, and continuing through April 20.

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday Dec. 5, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the distribution of the minutes from the last meeting and the report by the Assistant Treasurer. She reported that several members remained unpaid for dues dating back to 2020 and would therefore be removed from the membership roster. Twelve ladies attended the December meeting.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas. Bluebonnet members can access their account information and make payments while the offices are closed through the co-op’s website at bluebonnet.coop.
