LG’s Feed The Need Missions to Host Texas Burger Bash Festival April 15
The Texas Burger Bash, a brand new festival hosted by Feed The Need Missions, will take place on the Courthouse Square in La Grange on April 15.
Feed The Need sponsors a weekly hamburger supper and fellowship every Monday night on the Courthouse Square in La Grange. Dr. Jeremy Finch of Feed The Need said the festival seemed like a perfect fit for their organization.
“We started it to raise awareness and fundraising for Feed The Need,” Finch said. “We think it’s something that will grow over time. We hope it becomes a high-level burger competition for La Grange.”
Activities include a burger cookoff competition and cornhole tournament. Teams will compete for awards in three categories: Cover Burger (a burger that belongs on the front cover of the magazine), Smash Burger (classic thin, pressed burgers) and Chef’s Choice (anything goes).
Teams will check in at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 15. A mandatory team meeting takes place at 10:15 a.m., and cooking begins at 10:30 a.m. The cornhole tournament begins at 11 a.m. Feed The Need Missions will serve hamburgers to the general public for a suggested donation at noon. The tournament will continue throughout the afternoon until 4 p.m. The cookoff awards ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.
Finch credited several Feed The Need volunteers with coming up with the idea: Khalil Coltrain, Kevin Ulrich and Tim Scarborough.
“They do some cookoffs, and in conversations around the table it got started,” Finch said. “We’re just getting started, but we hope it grows bigger and better.”
Finch said they plan to hold the event every year on the Saturday after Easter. Sponsors this year include Scar and Sons Custom Craftsmen and 979 Trucking Inc. The registration deadline is April 1. Teams can register online at www.texasburgerbash. com.
