Fayette County Commissioners ordered a burn ban at their meeting last Thursday, July 13. The order prohibits outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the County.

July was another outstanding month for the city treasuries of Round Top and Fayetteville. Still apparently enjoying the fruits of new venues and the return of big crowds to Antiques Weeks sellers, Round Top has taken in just over $285,000 so far in 2023.

On Thursday, July 13, the City of Fayetteville repaired a water leak on the corner of Rusk and W. Main Street. According to Fayetteville Mayor Mike Stroup, the water leak was caused by old piping that had broken the previous evening, Wednesday, July 11. The section of piping had to be completely replaced, so repairs began Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. and were completed by 1 p.m. Roughly 90 percent of Fayetteville residents were affected by the water leak, and a boil water notice was put in place for 24 hours until the City could confirm that water was safe for drinking.

A stack of creosote posts caught fire north of La Grange and created a huge plume of black smoke on Saturday afternoon, July 15. The plume of smoke could be seen for miles around.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce invites you to join for two grand openings and ribbon cutting ceremonies on Saturday, July 22. Both businesses are conveniently located on Hwy. 290 about 1.5 miles apart. The Glass Anvil, located at 271 E. Thigpen creates beautiful stained glass works. Their ribbon cutting will begin at 10 am. From there move to Windmill Ranch Lodge located at 1403 West 290. This new venue seats up to 90 people and also serves as a B&B with individual bedrooms. Their ribbon cutting will begin at 11 a.m. The lodge will be serving wonderful snacks and refreshments.
