Grand Openings

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce invites you to join for two grand openings and ribbon cutting ceremonies on Saturday, July 22. Both businesses are conveniently located on Hwy. 290 about 1.5 miles apart. The Glass Anvil, located at 271 E. Thigpen creates beautiful stained glass works. Their ribbon cutting will begin at 10 am. From there move to Windmill Ranch Lodge located at 1403 West 290. This new venue seats up to 90 people and also serves as a B&B with individual bedrooms. Their ribbon cutting will begin at 11 a.m. The lodge will be serving wonderful snacks and refreshments.

Library Storytime

The Round Top Family Library offers a preschool storytime. They are looking for volunteers to read a story and create a small art activity and music activity. If interested, email Sheila Bain at sheilabain@hotmail.com. Preschool storytime is held on Wednesdays from 10:15 until 11 a.m.

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

There’s more A support and educational group for parents or grandparents who are grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process with be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. For more information and location of support group, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

Parkinson’s Support Group

For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street. For more information, call (832) 561-1447.

Water Meter Box Clean Out

The City of La Grange would like to inform utility customers that Aqua-Metric Sales Company will be throughout the city cleaning out water meter boxes to prepare for the new water meter installations that are going to occur later this year. The Aqua-Metric work crew(s) can be identified by their Aqua-Metric Sales Company work truck(s) and uniform(s). The City of La Grange expects crews throughout the city starting July 11. Second Chance Drop Off Hours Change

Second Chance Emporium has announced new summer hours for the donations drop-off area. Due to the extreme heat, starting Monday, July 17 and running through Monday, Sept. 11, donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

Library Science Show

Join the Fayette Public Library on Wednesday, July 19 at 10:15 a.m. and welcome Daniel G. Benes Science Shows.Aprogram will be filled with lots of laughs, science and excitement for the whole family. Vacation Bible School

First United Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, La Grange invites children “preschool children (potty-trained) ages 3 - 4 years old and Kindergarteners through kids who recently graduated 5th grade, join us for VBS Monday, July 24 - Thursday, July 27 from 9 a.m. - noon. This year’s theme is “Stellar,” which takes kids on a cosmic quest, shining Jesus’ light to the world. Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host their annual Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament Friday, July 28 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, morning and afternoon tee times. Two person scramble is $250 per team. All golfers are entitled to a free meal and drinks after the tournament at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center. A live and silent auction and door prizes will be held. Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars St. Paul Lutheran Church and Shared Lutheran Ministires will present Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars on Saturday, July 29 at the Sons of Hermann Hall, Rutersville. The hall is located at 5830 State Hwy. 159 in La Grange. A fried chicken meal will be served with scalloped potatoes, green beans and corn for a free-will offering. Coffee and tea will be provided, BYOB. Enjoy a dessert table, live and silent auction. Music will be by the Back Porch Boys beginning at 6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Lutherhill Ministires. Church members are asked to bring cakes or desserts for the meal.
