Tax Assessor
The Fayette County Tax Assessor Collector’s (DMV) office will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 19, for training. The office will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Please refer to the Department of Motor Vehicles website for more information at www.txdmv.gov. If you need, leave a voicemail to (979) 968-3164 and the office will contact you as soon as possible.

Second Chance Emporium hours of operation effective Sept. 11. Donation drop-off hours are 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sales store hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
There’s more New Life Methodist Church (formerly First UMC), located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange, invites children in 1st through 5th grade to join for fun with Jesus through Pioneer Club, the Wednesday after school program from 3:45 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. (parent pickup). Cost is $10 per semester and transportation is available from school. Children will participate in Bible lessons, games, crafts and a great music program. A delicious snack is also provided. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Support Group for caregivers of a loved one with Alzheimer’s/dementia on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.
Widowed Spouses Support Group

Class of 1960 Reunion
The Schulenburg High School class of 1960 will hold a reunion on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please get on the attendance list so there will be a good head count to assist the restaurant. 4-H Fun Night
Fayette County 4-H presents will present 4-H Fun Night on Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds from 4-6 p.m. 4-H, the nation’s largest youth development and empowerment organization, cultivates confident kids who tackle the issues that matter most in their communities right now. In the United States, 4-H programs empower six million young people through the 110 land-grant universities and Cooperative Extension in more than 3,000 local offices serving every county and parish in the country. Republican Women Meeting
The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 21 at the La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado St. Speaker will be Orlando Sanchez, founder of Texas Latino Conservatives. TLC’s mission: Mobilize Latino voters to elect/re-elect conservative candidates; Recruit, train, and support qualified conservative Latino candidates for local, county, regional, state, and statewide office; Manage issue- based campaigns designed to connect first with compassion and then mobilize voters; Launch long-term education campaign communicating shared conservative values. Guest Minister at Calvary Baptist Church Jay Hernandez, originally from La Grange, will be preaching at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m,. Jay is a minister who works for Project Hope & Saving Grace, a Christian-based recovery center. He will be sharing the testimony of how God radically delivered him out of a lifestyle of addiction. Kulhanek Family Reunion
The 50th Kulhanek family reunion will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24. The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. After Mass gather at Heh, Remember When located at 3031 FM-1291, Ste 200, in Fayetteville for lunch and fellowship. Bring your favorite dish to share for a potluck luncheon which will begin at 12:30 p.m. Bread, tea, and fruit punch will be provided. Cash bar will also be available. Planned activities include the traditional guessing game, door prizes, silent auction and raffle. New this year is a 50/50 raffle.
