The Schulenburg Festival, known as the National Party of Texas, announced the music lineup for this year’s Festival, which takes place July 30-Aug. 2 Entertainment on Friday night, July 31, will feature the Texas Sundown Band, LC Rocks and the headliner, Bottomland.

C The annual picnic at Waldeck Lutheran Church is this Sunday, May 17. A barbecue pork steak meal with mashed potatoes, California medley, and BBQ sauce will be served from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The La Fayette Masonic Lodge #34 AF&AM of La Grange presented “Bikes for Books” at La Grange Elementary School last Thursday, April 30. The Lodge presented a new bicycle to the most improved readers in first through sixth grade. The most-improved kindergarten readers received a summer prize pack as well. The top boy and girl in each class received a prize. W At the meeting of the Winchester Area Civic Association, four young people were awarded scholarships to aid in carrying on their educational goals. Recipients were Emma Short, Witt Hatton, Avery Henderson, and Jacob Bridgefarmer.

Animal Complaint On April 27, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a call from property owner in the 1000 block of Baumgarten requesting help with two momma cats and 9 total kittens.
