La Fayette Masonic Lodge Rewards Young Readers with “Bikes for Books” Program

The La Fayette Masonic Lodge #34 AF&AM of La Grange presented “Bikes for Books” at La Grange Elementary School last Thursday, April 30. The Lodge presented a new bicycle to the most improved readers in first through sixth grade. The most-improved kindergarten readers received a summer prize pack as well. The top boy and girl in each class received a prize. Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of April 26-May 2. Animal Complaint On April 27, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a call from property owner in the 1000 block of Baumgarten requesting help with two momma cats and 9 total kittens.

Smith McMillan DAR Chapter Celebrates Golden Legacy at 50th Anniversary Luncheon

To mark this milestone year, elegant invitations were issued to members and guests in honor of the Golden Legacy 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Smith McMillan Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This commemorative event was held at 11:30 a.m. on April 18, within the storied walls of La Grange’s Historic Casino Hall.
