Raphael’s Refuge, home of the Monument to the Innocents, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Pictured are two of the founding members, Mildred (Midge) Elam and Rex Moses. Midge, having recently stepped down from her position on the board, is still available to show visitors around the premises and share more about the ministry. Raphael’s Refuge is a place of healing, a place to honor babies who have died, from conception to 12 months. Peer counseling is available for those who have suffered the loss of a baby. Oct. 2, 1973 A hand crank organ, more than a century old, joined the collection of locally-used 19th century objects at the University of Texas outdoor museum at Winedale.

Deborah Bradley, above, the Director at the Texas Quilt Museum, hosted The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild at the Museum. Deborah’s enthusiasm and love for the exhibits and the building’s history were inspiring. From the current Exhibit “All Creatures Great and Small” to the quilts that were over 100 years old, the galleries were filled with beauty and fine art. Deborah’s vision of future events and renewing old ones will help the Museum grow and CVQG is proud to be a part of it. The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street, Room A East, La Grange, TX 78945. Guild meetings begin at 6 p.m. on even months and 10 a.m. on odd months. Meetings are always open to the public.
