School Attendance Slashed by Sickness

150 Out Monday at La Grange Elementary The La Grange school board held their monthly meeting Monday. Superintendent Andy McHazlett told the board that seasonal sicknesses are taking their toll on the student body.

BBQ Turkeys, Stuffing & Gravy

The La Grange Knights of Columbus along with the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity will host a Thanksgiving fundraiser. The La Grange Knights of Columbus will be selling 14-16 lb. BBQ turkeys for $60 each. Homemade dressing (9x13) for $30 and 1 qt. of giblet gravy for $10 will be available from the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity prepared by Jill Steuber. Each item is available separately. All orders must be placed with the Knights of Columbus before Nov. 16. Call (979) 968-5117 to pre-order. Pickup will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center at 190 Brown St. in La Grange.

Opry to Host Gospel Show Nov. 20

This month the Fayette County Country Music Club Opry is proud to host a Gospel Show with D’Vine Testament and The Spirit Riders on Monday, Nov. 20. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $8.

Qualified high school students are offered a unique opportunity to explore the world by spending an academic year, semester or summer in Europe, Asia, North or South America, Australia or South Africa as part of the ASSE International Student Exchange Program. A non-profit, public benefit organization, ASSE is dedicated to promoting closer ties of friendship between the United States and other countries by fostering intercultural understanding through youth exchange programs.
ASSE’s mission is to foster international understanding through educational and cross cultural programs.

Nassif, Lucas to Wed in 2025

Jenna Caswell Nassif and Michael Nassif of Sugarland announce the engagement of their daughter, Madeline May, to Jonathan Carmel Lucas, the son of Suzanne Lucas of Houston and Robert and Larae Lucas of Cypress. The bride is a 2016 graduate of St. Agnes Academy and a 2019 graduate of UT Austin. She is employed as a Director of Development at the LSU Foundation in Baton Rouge. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at LSU. The groom is a graduate of Strake Jesuit and a 2020 graduate of LSU. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the department of Chemical Engineering at LSU. The couple are planning a spring 2025 wedding in Italy. Madeline is the granddaughter of Johnny and JoAnn Caswell of La Grange.
