Domino Tourney

Join the Fayette County Democratic Party for their next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Contact fayettetxdemocrats@gmail.com for the Zoom link.

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host a domino tournament on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown Street in La Grange. Registration is at 9 a.m. Play starts at 10 a.m. Straight or 42 round robin play is $20 per team. Prizes will be awarded and a barbecue chicken meal will be available for $12.

CDA Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Feb. 26 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will begin with a Lenten reflection followed by a brief meeting. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome. There’s more The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check. A short business meeting will commence at 11:15 a.m. followed by our candidate introductions. The following have committed to attend: Congressional District 10 race, Eddie Araza for Rep. Michael McCaul and Jared Lovelace; State Board of Education District 10 race, Tom Maynard; House District 85 race, Stan Kitzman and Tim Greeson; County Attorney race, James Herbrich and Mark Elvig; County Tax Assessor/ Collector Sylvia Mendoza (unopposed); County Constable Pct. 2 race, Roger Wunderlich and Kenneth King; County Chairman race, Deborah Frank and Michael Schlabach. Each candidate will have five minutes to introduce themselves, then take a few audience questions. This event is open to all Fayette County residents as opportunities to meet Republican candidates before the March 5 primary. Library Swiftie Sing-Along

Calling all Swifties! The Fayette Public Library will host a fun Swiftie Sing-Along event on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 4-6 p.m. Join in mkaing friendship bracelets, shrinky dink charms and sing karaoke to Swiftie favorites. Bring a blank item of clothing to customize if you like. All ages are welcome. All library programs are free and open to the public. La Grange KC Fish Fry

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will hold a drive-thru fish fry fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 23 from 4-6 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange, located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal will include fried fish and hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $14/plate. Meal is on a first come, first served basis.

Texas German Society Meeting

The Fayette County chapter of the Texas German Society will meet on Monday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at Randolph Rec Center. Guest speaker will be Norman Wied who will share information about the history of La Grange. Members will also be entertained by the La Grange High School polka band accompanied by their German teacher, Frau Faske. Members are asked to bring snacks or desserts. Everyone is invited to attend.

LG Community Blood Drive

Lend a helping arm at the blood drive on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown Street in La Grange. Walk ins are welcome. Eat a full meal before donating and remember to bring your photo ID.

Weimar Encore Lions Club

The Weimar Encore Lions Club is hosting a fried chicken dinner with sides on Thursday, Feb. 29 at the St. Michael Family Center in Weimar. Drive thru only from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from Hill Bank, M-G Farm Service Center, and any Encore Lions Club Member. The meail is $13/plate.

Farm Bureau Scholarships

The Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau will again award scholarships to seniors from area high schools. The scholarships may be used at any accredited university, college, or vocational school. Scholarship applications may be obtained by contacting counselors at the schools. The requirements to be eligible for this scholarship are that the applicant’s parents and/ or grandparents be members of the Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/ Dubina Farm Bureau. Return the scholarship applications back to the counselors at the high school.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
