The Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum, located in Schulenburg, is thrilled to mark its 25th anniversary with a special celebration on April 20. This milestone marks a quarter of a century of preserving the rich history of model aircraft and honoring the legacy of the Stanzel family’s contributions to aviation and model aircraft engineering.

A pair of wrecks on US 77 slowed traffic through Fayette County on a busy Monday as lots of folks were traveling to see the eclipse. The wreck happened shortly before 11 a.m.

The La Grange City Council took a first step towards allowing a gin distillery to move into the downtown historic district. Entrepreneurs David and Vicky McGrath, who are trying to start a business called La Grange Distilling Co., first brought their plans to the City Council last August.

After months of build-up, Mother Nature didn’t provide the perfect conditions for viewing Monday’s historic total eclipse in most of Central Texas, Fayette County included. But that didn’t stop many locals from trying to get outside Monday about 1:30 p.m.

Local Veteran Service Organizations will offer a firstever combined Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance May 18 in Flatonia at the American Legion Hall. This dinner and dance was created to provide all veterans of the Armed Forces the opportunity to participate in an annual event similar to active service components.

To the Editor: I wanted to weigh in on the amazing popularity of women’s college basketball. Most of the nation is amazed, but I am not.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will host Bingo on April 13 at the Chamber Hall (104 W. Colorado Sky) with doors opening at 4 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, desserts and refreshments for sale. Games will start at 6 p.m.
