Special Meeting Held for County To Snag a Good Deal on a Truck

The Fayette County Commissioners Court held an astonishingly short special meeting last Friday, Sept. 18.

There was only one action item on the agenda: the purchase of a 2019 Peterbilt 388 truck for the Pct. 3 Road and Bridge Department. Pct. 3 Commissioner Harvey Berckenhoff said he requested the special meeting because he found an exceptionally affordable deal at $55,000 for the truck. He said the seller was unwilling to hold the truck until the next regular Commissioners Court meeting.

Berckenhoff said the Peterbilt will replace an 1995 International truck that the County purchased under former Commissioner Wilbur Gross many years ago.

The court approved it 4-0 with Pct. 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom absent from the meeting.

The meeting adjourned just two minutes after it began.
