It’s common knowledge that people who work in education are more than staff members. They are mentors, guides, and friends, and no other school exemplifies this more than the hardworking men and women at La Grange ISD, especially those who are retiring this year. Rebecca Gerecke, Kristine Naiser, and Sally Ferley are all examples of staff members who did more than just their jobs but were committed to excellence.

Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. recently awarded $70,000 in scholarships to fourteen graduating seniors from six area high schools.

Fayetteville ISD has had a number of Teachers Recognized by the Teacher Incentive Allotment program, which provides extra funding to teachers and schools. Ninety-percent of the money awarded to Fayetteville is going directly to the teachers who earned it.

La Grange High School junior Riley Lowe was presented her $500 check for winning the La Grange Optimist Club’s Essay Contest on May 9 at the LGISD scholarship ceremony. Lowe’s essay was judged the best from among several that were submitted by Fayette County youth.

La Grange High School will hold its graduation ceremonies Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at Leopard Stadium (weather permitting).

A violent storm passed over Fayette County Thursday afternoon, May 16, which downed trees and power lines. The northern parts of the County suffered the worst damage.
