Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets in April

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday April 1, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard financial reports. Two thank you cards were read to members in appreciation for remembrances received. Fourteen ladies attended the meeting.

Bastrop Interested in New Power Plant Project

Bastrop’s city council went on record as favoring moving the joint City of Austin-Lower Colorado River Authority coal-fired electric generating plant site from Fayette County to the Camp Swift property in Bastrop County. Bastrop officials were interested in having the plant near their town because of the economic and recreational benefits. Mayor James Sharp, who said there were two highways, railroad spurs and the Colorado River near Camp Swift, sought a meeting with Austin Mayor Butler to discuss this possibility.

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 Meets

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas No. 1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, April 22. Regent Shirley Antosh opened the meeting with prayer followed by pledges to the US and Texas flag led by Vice Regent Sherry Hebert. The charter was draped during the meeting in memory of our deceased member, Anita Proske, who passed away on March 30, 2024. She was a member for over 42 years.

Trio of LGISD Retirees Reflect As New Chapter Looms

It’s common knowledge that people who work in education are more than staff members. They are mentors, guides, and friends, and no other school exemplifies this more than the hardworking men and women at La Grange ISD, especially those who are retiring this year. Rebecca Gerecke, Kristine Naiser, and Sally Ferley are all examples of staff members who did more than just their jobs but were committed to excellence.
