Fayetteville Water Main Bursts at Worst Time

A water main burst in Fayetteville Saturday morning, just as the town’s Lickskillet celebration was about to get underway. Fayetteville Mayor Mike Stroup said the City discovered an old main water pipe that broke on FM 1291 near the post office around 7 a.m.

October Proclaimed Manufacturing Month

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation designating October as Manufacturing Month in Fayette County during their regular meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10. The Commissioners Court urges all citizens to join in recognizing the importance of manufacturing and to encourage future generations to explore opportunities in this vital industry. At the proclamation signing were (from left) Pct. 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann, Pct. 3 Commissioner Harvey Berckenhoff , County Judge Dan Mueller, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area Career Coach Rachel Sotelo, Pct. 2 Commissioner Luke Sternadel and Pct. 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom. Sotello said that she is part of the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area K-12 outreach team, and added that La Grange ISD will be attending one of Workforce Solutions events in Bastrop later in October.

Shelter Update

As of Oct. 18, the total intake for 2024 for the Gradenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,331: 595 dogs and 736 cats in need. As of Oct. 18, the shelter has 105 animals in care: 38 dogs/67 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
