Busy January Ahead at Senior Connections

Senior Connections, the vibrant activity center for seniors aged 55 and up, invites everyone to join in the fun as we kick off a series of engaging events this January. With a focus on camaraderie, food, and festivities, our center is the perfect place for active seniors to gather and enjoy life.
Senior Connections held its Second annual New Year’s Eve Heritage Ball at the Freyburg Hall, benefiting the members of Senior Connections and serving the elderly population of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties. A live auction and a whisky wall brought invaluable funding for the organization.

County Inspector Reports 101 Divisions of Property in 2024

During 2024, there were 101 divisions of property. Of those 101, 15 were exempted over 10 acres, 23 were exempted adjoining land owners, 35 were family exemptions, 26 were variances (under 10 acres), and 2 were formal divisions (24 in Precinct 1, 39 in Precinct 2, 16 in Precinct 3, and 22 in Precinct 4) During 2024, there were 308 septic permits totaling $90,670.00..

Juvenile Probation Reports on 2024 Activity

Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Zachary Velasquez’s data shows the Fayette County Juvenile Probation Department received 21 referrals from law enforcement for criminal offenses committed by juveniles, with 75% of the population being males and 25% being females. Of the 21 referrals, 8 were Felony offenses, 11 were Class A or B offenses, and 2 Status Offense. The majority of these youth were between the ages of 1316 years of age.

2024 in Review From the Veterans Service Office

The Fayette County Veterans Service Officer Jesse Lednicky reports that his office continues to assist Veterans, their spouses, spouses of deceased Veterans and other families with claim assistance with the Veterans Administration.

New Exhibits Open This Week at Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange

The Texas Quilt Museum ushers in the new year with three knockout exhibits sure to enthrall art lovers across its three galleries: “Red, White and Blue Quilts from International Quilt Festival’s 50th Anniversary,” “International Quilt Festival 2024 Judged Show Prizewinners,” and “Libby Lehman: The Art of Quilting.” The exhibits will open on January 9 and run through April 26.
This quilt called “The Naughty Corner” by Tania Tanti was The 2024 Janome Master Award for Innovative Artistry. It’s part of a new exhibit opening this week at the Texas Quilt Museum.

County Adds 286 New 911 Addresses

Fayette County assigned 286 new 9-1-1 addresses during 2024. Three named subdivision roads were also recognized as private roads for mapping purposes and added to the Fayette 9-1-1 addressing system..
