Adult Education Programs Squeezed By Federal Funding Freeze

A federal hold on funding for adult education programs is affecting Texans enrolled in such programs as GED classes, workforce training, and instruction in English. The Texas Standard reported $78 million the state was slated to receive for these programs this month has been paused.

Camp Lone Star Annual BBQ Coming Up

News Camp Lone Star in La Grange will host their annual BBQ and Auction Fundraiser to support the camp, transform lives and grow in God’s kingdom, on Sunday, July 27. This event is one of the main events which supports Camp Lone Star each year.
The Ladies Group at Holy Cross Lutheran in Warda enjoyed a wedding-themed party at their recent meeting. Julia Kappler even wore her recent wedding dress. A good time was had by all.

The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange.The Auxiliary agenda includes the Installation of Officers for the 20252026 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support for both service organizations. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.

Bugle Boy’s 20th Anniversary Celebrated With Mural Dedication

Dozens of supporters attended a dedication ceremony for a new mural on the side of the Bugle Boy listening room in La Grange Thursday morning, July 3. Commissioned for the Bugle Boy’s 20th anniversary, the mural by artist Tyler Kay celebrates the Bugle Boy’s musical contribution to La Grange’s culture.

Locals Spring Into Action to Help in Flooded Hill Country

A team of Fayette County EMS personnel including EMS Director Josh Vandever deployed to the Hill Country to assist in rescue and recovery efforts following the devastating July 4 floods. Vandever told the Record on Sunday that he would provide a report on their activities once demobilized, but he wasn’t sure when that would be.
