Senior Connections to Hear from Angela Hahn Tuesday

Senior Connections, a vibrant community hub for individuals aged 55 and up, welcomes seniors from Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties to enjoy the fun and fellowship. With no membership fees, this dynamic organization offers a variety of activities, delicious meals, and the opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones.

Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum Offers Polka Fun During Fall Open House

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) is hosting a Fall Open House Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. The open house is in conjunction with Heritage Fest and Muzicky, sponsored by The Texas Czech Heritage Culture Center (TCHCC). The Public is invited to attend and celebrate the current fall season. These October events are based around Czech culture with many activities; dance opportunities, entertainment, exhibits, delicious food and drink both days and it all takes place within the Czech Village located in the La Grange Fairgrounds.

November 4 Election Sample Ballots

On Nov. 4, 2025, voters in Texas will decide on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. The ballot includes measures related to taxes, public safety, education funding, voting rules, and a new dementia research institute. Some propositions address tax matters, including potential exemptions for capital gains, animal feed, business personal property, and homes destroyed by fire. Other tax-related items include changes to school district exemptions for elderly and disabled homeowners and the general homestead exemption, as well as a property tax exemption for landowners installing border security infrastructure. Public safety measures include potential changes to bail in certain felony cases and sanctions for judges. There are also propositions concerning funding for the Texas State Technical College System, a Texas Water Fund, and the creation of a Dementia Prevention and Research Institute. This ballot also show a taxing vote for Fayetteville ISD voters.
