Fayette Electric Cooperative is proud to announce its continued participation in the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, a prestigious program that sends high school students on an unforgettable, allexpenses- paid trip to Washington, D.C. This year, two students from Fayette EC’s service area will be selected to join the 2026 Youth Tour, taking place June 14–21.

Fayette County Commissioners Court lowered the speed limit on Leonhardt Rd. near Round Top to 40 miles per hour. Commissioners held a public hearing on the speed limit change at their meeting last Thursday, Oct. 9.

On Nov. 4, 2025, voters in Texas will decide on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. The ballot includes measures related to taxes, public safety, education funding, voting rules, and a new dementia research institute. Some propositions address tax matters, including potential exemptions for capital gains, animal feed, business personal property, and homes destroyed by fire. Other tax-related items include changes to school district exemptions for elderly and disabled homeowners and the general homestead exemption, as well as a property tax exemption for landowners installing border security infrastructure. Public safety measures include potential changes to bail in certain felony cases and sanctions for judges. There are also propositions concerning funding for the Texas State Technical College System, a Texas Water Fund, and the creation of a Dementia Prevention and Research Institute. This ballot also show a taxing vote for Fayetteville ISD voters.
